"Church Boy" aka 'Tha Bad'

My Story

I was born Charles L. Cooper on November 17, 1983. I'm from the eastern central part of Mississippi in the city of Starkville, in Oktibbeha county.  With a tough up-bringing, and living in section 8 housing, my mother raised me and 5 of my siblings.  Being a single parent and in a high crime area, my mother kept us all close to God.  My mother raised us with tough love; she never let us put our trust in her, only Jesus.

Although my mother and father were separated, my father still played a major role in my life.  My father didn't live that far from us, he lived in the country part of the city called Lakeside.  My dad taught me things that added value to my life, such as: how to live off the land, how to survive, and to appreciate what you have, no matter the amount.  My grandmother also played a major role in my life, as she was the main one dragging me to church.  My grandmother was always at every church function, especially the choir anniversary. She was always quoting scripture, saying things like, "If you raise a child in the way he should go, it will never depart from him."  I have made some wrong choices in my life, but thinking about how my parents, grandmother, and the journey through life has molded me, I can honestly say that I am a Soldier for Christ.
